Day 101: Rest Day @ Bunbury

June 24th, 2011

Bunbury
Distance: 0km
Total distance: 6290km

This house has an incredible viewing point. I get to see sunset yesterday on the left, and today on the right I get to see an equally beautiful sunrise!
A closer look at the sunrise. Simply gorgeous

The weather forecast today says a thunderstorm and strong winds. So I must declare a forced rest day today. Before the storm hits, I took a walk to the beach but didn’t manage to get there as the wind was overwhelmingly strong. Turned back and walked into the town centre. The storm gradually came in as I returned to the house.

Bunbury town centre. Already started pouring at this point
The streets were surprisingly quiet for a weekday
Classy signage

For most of the afternoon I spent reading books, maps, and magazines. This house is filled with plenty of reading materials I guess for trapped guest like myself, hehe. Speaking of guest, Jose put up his place for travellers on Warm Showers and Couch Surfing. So happen there’s a family of three couch surfers who are coming in to stay tonight.

Back at the house. The only thing left to complete the construction are the walls and ceiling on the upper floor
Lots of maps on the wall and books on the floor to keep me occupied for the day. I think the unfinished house looks great at this state
There's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I can ride in this weather condition

Spent the evening having a cuppa with Jose and Rachel, talking mostly about our experiences in biking and travelling in general. Later on the couch surfers, Lucas and his wife and their baby arrived from Bendigo. Zayne I met from Esperance called to ask how I was doing, what a surprise!

Meet Chiko! He's about 7 years old and has only been recently adopted by Jose and Linda
