I was previously informed that there is a very nice bikeway on this road. Luck was upon us, it was sunshine today! It was still early when I was up so I took a stroll at the beach and then to the town centre. A lovely weather like this must not go to waste! I was dying to get out of the hostel too so the moment I saw the sunshine this morning my mood was all rainbows and lollipops.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1405\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1405\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5394.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5394\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1405\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1405\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SUNSHINE!!! Very cosy atmosphere<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Back at the hostel, I had a brief chat with a hostel guest from Japan. He too was surprised to find I was the owner of the trike. We rode out not long later, me on the trike and Selma on a rented upright bike. The bikeway was just opposite the hostel and it runs parallel to the Great Ocean Drive for 14km down the south-west. The ride was an absolute blast! Small rolling hills and corners that hits the sweet spot for trikes. The road surface was silky smooth too. The highlight was the fantastic view of the 5 or 6 beaches we passed. I couldn&#8217;t think of any more perfect bikeway than this. And of course, it&#8217;s nice to have a cycling partner after 80 days of riding solo, haha. But on a few occasions I got so carried away I somehow managed to ditch my partner amongst the rolling hills (sorry, Selma!).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1424\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1424\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5580.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5580\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1424\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is Selma. src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5497.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5497\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1417\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seeing these two reminds me of our family dogs, Bonnie and Bebe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1418\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1418\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5531.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5531\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1418\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1418\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A pair of albatross! These birds are such noble creatures, 100 times better looking than the pesty seagulls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1419\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1419\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5535.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5535\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1419\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1419\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">West Beach (if I'm not mistaken) is the most famous Esperance beach for surfing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1420\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1420\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5541.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5541\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1420\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1420\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">These honeybees must be really thirsty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1421\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1421\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5544.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5544\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1421\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1421\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Twilight beach, the most famous beach for swimming and beach goers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After lunch at Twilight Beach and a couple of hundred photos, we headed back to the hostel. But not without a stop at the jetty to visit a resident seal. But we were out of luck, no sight of the seal today. Though, a pretty sunset made the visit worthwhile.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1422\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1422\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/melvynyap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5562.jpg?resize=512%2C341\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_5562\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1422\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1422\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My first time seeing a windmill up close. But the fact that she chooses to use her iPhone camera more is just disturbing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A wonderful side tour we had today. Tomorrow I am hoping to do another side tour, solo this time, to Cape Le Grand National Park, about 45km away, which means I would have to spend a night there before returning the next day. Heard a lot of good things about this national park.
