Day 63-65: Rest Days @ Ceduna

On my first morning in Ceduna, I had a swollen lower lip! This lasted for the entire 3 days I stayed in Ceduna. Don’t know what caused it, but it just went away by itself so it’s all good. I also had moderately sore legs, I guess this was the effect of pushing myself too hard to cover that 300km+ in the last two days.

🙁

Ceduna is quite a nice little town. It’s got all the basic facilities like banks and specialty stores. I am quite fond of the foreshore where the water appears to be so calm all the time. Population at the moment is about 3500 but apparently it shrunk from 4500 about 25 years ago, not sure why.

Only downside was the town centre can be quite unsafe in the late evening. There were people roaming around the town streets aimlessly and some of them yelled and fought among themselves. What’s so odd about this was the passer-bys don’t appear to be bothered even a tiny bit by this and just continue doing their thing. I noticed the stares on me as I was walking back from the supermarket to the caravan park. Felt really uneasy, perhaps also I wasn’t familiar with the culture of the local people here.
I didn’t do much on my trike other than the usual servicing and cleaning. Oh, I’ve managed to lock the quick release lever using a couple of zip ties, an easy fix for a crucial problem!

The caravan park I stayed had wifi access, so whenever I’m at the park, I spent most of the time reading other touring cyclist journals. It’s so much more meaningful to read these while I’m touring, as I can relate so much to it 🙂

Campsite at the caravan park. A bit costly but superbly clean and tidy
Walked on this jetty every day, only 5 mins walk from the caravan park
End of the jetty, I find walking on this jetty therapeutic
